The Art of Learning
Learn how to Learn
We live in a fast based world, in a place that does not wait for those not caught up. In the train station, the train will not wait for you to get on it to move; it moves whether you are on it or not. That is exactly how life works and why you should master the most critical skill in your life, which is to Learn how to Learn.
Most people believe that learning stops as they finish schooling, and that is not the cause. Learning never stops as we live. It is the mission and the goal that fuel us to live. As a matter of fact, how would your life be interesting if you were the same person? Why would people like you? And why would they form connections with you if you are a boring person?
The Cycle of Learning:
When you were born, you started from point Zero. You needed to move, so you learned how to walk. You needed to talk, so you learned how to speak. You needed to play, so you learned how to run and engage, and so on.
You see, learning was a main part of your life and the fuel for your development, so why stop learning? When you were a small kid, you learned through trial and error; you did not fear failing.
But why have many stopped learning?
When you were small, you did not have a fear of failure. You learned different skills as you grew and went through the process of trial and error. Then you started attending the school where things were different. In schools, you learn that failing is bad and you should not fail no matter what happens. Your perspective of learning had changed; you now fear failing.
People who develop a fear of failing will try to be right all the time; they fear being judged or misunderstood. As these people end their schooling career, they stop taking the risk of learning. They fear learning that new skill, language, and system. They believe that they have learned all the needed knowledge and don’t need to learn anything new.
The real question is, How do we learn to learn?
There is no specific way to learn how to learn. It is more of a personalized experience. Everyone can develop a system that will work for them.
For example, my system consists of the following:
I identify what skill I would like to learn.
I search for all the people who are good at the skill and consume their content.
Then, I start looking for peers or communities of people who are trying to learn the same skill as mine.
I start setting micro and macro goals.
Record your work, as it is the way to see your progress.
In our fast-paced world, continuous learning is the key to achieving your goals. You don’t want to be left behind while others around you grow. Thus, take the step and master the art of learning and start acquiring all the different skills.
